Neighbors Unite Wilkinsburg …

is a non-partisan, grassroots effort whose mission is to encourage Wilkinsburg residents’ participation in local government. To date, we have helped to elect a new Mayor and 5 council members.

2009 is an important election, with the Mayor, Tax Collector, and five Council seats on the ballot. Borough Council is made up of 9 members, 3 from each ward. NUW will be endorsing a candidate for Mayor, Tax Collector, and 5 candidates for Council; one candidate from the 1st ward, and two candidates from the 2nd and 3rd wards.

Our goals are to:

• Recruit and support candidates for Local Office.
• Enlist new members.
• Report on the Borough’s current leadership

Our platform: We will support candidates who:

• Insist on responsible fiscal management.
• Encourage redevelopment.
• Stabilize borough management personnel.
• Cooperate with state and county governments.
• Uphold professional ethics.
